Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Assistant Cook to join our team, to work alongside our cook and support the preparation of nutritious and appealing meals for young children in a caring environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a commitment to food safety standards. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of children through healthy meal provision, working within a supportive and professional setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals suitable for nursery-aged children, ensuring nutritional value and variety.
- Assist in planning menus that meet dietary requirements and preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Ensure all food is stored correctly and ingredients are used within their expiry dates.
- Follow strict hygiene protocols during food preparation and serving.
- Serve meals to children in a friendly and efficient manner, promoting positive mealtime experiences.
- Monitor food temperatures and presentation before serving.
- Assist with cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils after use.
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking, preferably within a nursery, school, or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices relevant to preparing meals for children.
- Food safety and hygiene qualifications or be willing to complete them.
- Experience working in a kitchen environment, including meal preparation and serving.
- Culinary experience that demonstrates the ability to create nutritious, child-friendly dishes.
- Familiarity with restaurant or catering experience is advantageous but not essential.
