Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Care Assistant to provide high-quality support to residents in a care home setting during overnight hours. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents throughout the night. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while working in a supportive and professional environment.
Duties
- Monitor residents' conditions throughout the night, responding promptly to any needs or emergencies
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as toileting, mobility, and medication reminders in accordance with care plans
- Ensure the safety and security of the care environment by conducting regular checks and reporting any concerns
- Document observations and incidents accurately in accordance with company policies
- Support residents with bedtime routines and ensure their comfort during sleeping hours
- Liaise effectively with day staff to ensure continuity of care and relay important information about residents’ overnight status
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of communal areas as required during shifts
Skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in English
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and adapt to individual resident needs
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and documentation purposes
- Strong organisational skills with an organised approach to tasks
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in providing quality home care services
- Driving licence is advantageous for those supporting residents with outings or errands
- Previous experience working within a care home or home care environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for those new to the sector
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with residents and colleagues
