Job Title - Kitchen Care Assistant
Overview of the role:
Kitchen care assistants play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of food and dining service for our residents. You will be responsible for helping maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room, preparing food and ensuring all food preparation and service comply with food and hygiene regulations.
Here are some of the key responsibilities and requirements for this role:
- The careful use of the dish-washing to wash all food production and dining items, and maintaining them in a hygienic condition
- Must ensure that all food preparation and service areas are clean and hygienic to the highest standard, both in working methods and personal hygiene.
- Basic food preparation, preparing breakfasts, beverages and other basic meal items for residents
- Follow food safety guidelines and practices to prevent foodborne illnesses
- Assist with setting up and clearing away for meal service
- Cleaning of floors, work surfaces, trolleys and emptying of waste bins
- Cleaning and setting up of the dining room between meal services
- Follow daily and weekly cleaning checklists
- Good communication, as you will be required to interact with the residents and provide and receive information about food, or have a friendly chat.
- Close liaison with all staff
- You will be required to have a Food Hygiene certificate. This can be done within your employment here
- Assisting with the movement of food & beverage deliveries
- To follow the Isobel Fraser Homes Health & Safety procedures/Safe Working Practice H.A.C.C.P. & C.O.S.H.H
- To report any damage/shortages and equipment faults to the Head Chef/Supervisor
- Such other duties as may be specified from time to time by the Head of Department
- Reporting accidents to the First Aider and Head Chef/Supervisor and recording in the accident book
- Any statutory training that is required
