HGV / Lorry Mechanic
Salary: £16.00 - £20.00 per hour (dependent on age and experience)
We are seeking an experienced HGV / Lorry Mechanic to join our established workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our internal fleet of vehicles, alongside carrying out scheduled 6-week inspections and additional customer and retail work.
The majority of the role involves routine servicing, maintenance, and MOT preparation, with excellent opportunities for development and progression for the right applicant.
Based in our fully equipped commercial workshop, you will have access to a wide range of specialist tools and diagnostic equipment to support your work. We are committed to investing in our team and can provide additional manufacturer training where required.
Vehicles You Will Work On
- 4, 6 and 8-wheel tippers
- Muckaway HIAB lorries
- Flatbed delivery lorries
- Articulated delivery vehicles
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out vehicle diagnostics to identify faults and determine required repairs.
- Service, maintain and repair HGV and commercial vehicle systems.
- Diagnose and repair air conditioning systems.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections.
- Complete routine 6-week vehicle inspections and servicing.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure repairs and maintenance are completed efficiently.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures within the workshop.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven HGV repair and maintenance experience.
- Experience using computer-based diagnostic equipment.
- Air conditioning service experience and/or relevant qualifications.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
