HEAD OF PEOPLE
£40,000–£45,000 | West London | Full-time
Build the people function behind one of West London's leading home care providers.
Azon Core is exclusively recruiting a Head of People for an exceptional, established domiciliary care provider in West London.
The organisation is CQC rated Outstanding overall, operates within one of the UK's most recognised home care networks and has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality, relationship-led care across its local communities.
This is already a successful organisation with an established workforce, experienced leadership team, strong private client base and significant presence within the West London care market.
But the next phase is particularly exciting.
The organisation has an ambitious growth and transformation strategy focused on developing specialist care services, strengthening its workforce, improving technology and systems, and creating an outstanding experience for the people who deliver its care.
People are right at the centre of that strategy.
We are therefore looking for someone capable of building much more than a traditional HR function.
The opportunity
As Head of People, you will have the opportunity to shape and lead the organisation's entire people strategy.
Your remit will span:
Attraction → Recruitment → Onboarding → Workforce Planning → Engagement → Retention → Performance → Development → Progression
There is already an established recruitment operation and a highly committed leadership team.
Your job will be to take what exists and build the next version.
You'll have genuine authority to challenge processes, introduce new ideas, build systems and significantly improve how employees experience the organisation.
You'll lead areas including:
- People and workforce strategy
- Recruitment strategy and performance
- Workforce planning
- Employee onboarding
- Care Professional experience
- Employee engagement and retention
- Learning and development
- Probation and performance
- Recognition and reward
- Career pathways
- Succession planning
- Community recruitment
- Employer branding
- Employee relations
- People policies
- People analytics and KPIs
- Exit and retention insight
- Management capability
This is a hands-on leadership position.
We don't want someone who only wants to write policies or manage HR from behind a desk.
You'll spend time with employees, managers and senior leaders, understand how the organisation really works and translate people strategy into practical improvements.
Workforce strategy will be particularly important
Home care presents a fascinating workforce challenge.
Success isn't simply about employing enough people.
It's about building a workforce with the right:
- Availability
- Geography
- Skills
- Experience
- Confidence
- Working patterns
You'll work closely with recruitment, scheduling, care management and operations to ensure workforce strategy supports both exceptional care and sustainable growth.
Recruitment and employer brand
You'll also help transform how the organisation attracts talent.
That means continuing to strengthen traditional recruitment while developing:
- Community recruitment
- Employee referrals
- Local partnerships
- Recruitment events
- College relationships
- Direct sourcing
- Social recruitment
- Employer brand
- Candidate engagement
The ambition is to build a strong local talent community rather than relying solely on job boards.
Onboarding and employee experience
A major part of the role will involve developing a genuinely excellent experience for new Care Professionals.
From accepting an offer through training, their first client, probation and beyond, we want people joining the organisation to feel:
welcomed, prepared, supported and valued.
You'll have considerable freedom to shape what that experience looks like.
Who are we looking for?
We're deliberately open-minded.
You may currently be a:
- Head of People
- People Manager
- HR Manager
- People & Culture Manager
- Workforce Manager
- Recruitment & Retention Manager
- Senior Talent Acquisition Manager
- Employee Experience Manager
Previous social care experience would be valuable but isn't essential.
We are particularly interested in candidates who understand frontline, dispersed or hourly workforces.
That could come from:
- Social care
- Healthcare
- Hospitality
- Retail
- Recruitment/staffing
- Logistics
- Facilities
- Field services
You'll probably thrive here if you:
- Like building rather than maintaining.
- Can think strategically and still roll your sleeves up.
- Understand recruitment and retention as connected problems.
- Use data to make decisions.
- Can influence senior leaders.
- Care deeply about employee experience.
- Can create processes that managers actually use.
- Enjoy working in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment.
- Are commercially aware.
- Want genuine ownership.
Why this organisation?
You'll be joining a successful care provider with:
- Outstanding CQC recognition
- A highly regarded local reputation
- An established and committed workforce
- Strong leadership
- Specialist clinical capability
- Excellent learning and development credentials
- A premium approach to home care
- Significant ambition for the future
- Leadership genuinely willing to invest in people and improvement
This is a rare opportunity to inherit strong foundations while having considerable freedom to build.
