Cleaning Staff
Recruiting cleaning staff for a school-based role in Enfield, Middlesex. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone reliable, hardworking, and comfortable working independently or as part of a small team within a busy school environment.
About the role:
Role: Temporary, 6 months (with strong possibility of extension based on performance and school need)
Hours: Monday–Friday, split shifts — 11:30–13:30 and 15:00–18:00 (approx. 4.5 hours/day)
Start: Immediate
You'll be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the school site, ensuring a safe, presentable environment for pupils, staff, and visitors throughout the day. Split shifts mean you'll be cleaning during a mid-day changeover window and again in the late afternoon/early evening once the school day winds down — useful if you're looking for work that fits around other commitments (school runs, second job, studies, etc.).
Key responsibilities:
- Cleaning and sanitising corridors, communal areas, toilets, and classrooms
- Emptying bins and replenishing consumables (soap, paper towels, etc.) where required
- Reporting any maintenance issues, damage, or health & safety concerns to site management
- Following COSHH guidelines and safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Working to instructions from on-site cleaning supervisors and adapting to daily priorities
- Maintaining a professional, respectful presence in an environment with children present
-
What we're looking for:
- Previous cleaning experience preferred but not essential — full guidance provided on site
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work unsupervised
- Comfortable working in a school setting (a satisfactory DBS check will be required — First Call Education can support with this if you don't already hold one)
- Physically able to carry out cleaning duties including some bending, lifting, and standing for periods
