New Opportunity - Skilled Machinist
Are you an experienced
Skilled Machinist with practical machining skills and a good understanding of workshop machinery? Do you enjoy working with your hands, producing accurate components, and working from technical drawings and specifications?
Our client is looking for a Machine Shop Operator to join their manufacturing team on a
permanent basis. This is a varied, hands-on role involving small-batch manufacturing, machining, modification, cutting, drilling, tapping, and assembly work.
You will have the opportunity to work across a range of workshop machinery, with structured training provided to help you develop your skills and become competent across multiple machines.
As the new Skilled Machinist, you will:
- Operate a range of workshop machinery safely and efficiently
- Complete machining, modification, and small-batch manufacturing work to required specifications and tolerances
- Carry out cutting, drilling, tapping, sawing, and assembly activities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, measurements, and job instructions
- Check materials, machine settings, and job requirements before starting work
- Carry out routine quality checks to ensure work meets the required standards
- Complete production records and documentation accurately
- Identify and report equipment faults, quality issues, and maintenance requirements
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Work to company health and safety procedures and use all required PPE
- Develop your skills across different machines through structured training and supervised operation

Main Requirements for This Role
- Previous experience working with workshop or manufacturing machinery
- Practical machining, fabrication, or assembly experience
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and measurements
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, quality work
- Understanding of workshop health and safety requirements
- Reliable and organised with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider production team
- Willingness to learn and develop skills across a range of machinery

About this role:
- Salary: £14.06 - £16.16 per hour, depending on experience
- Full-time, permanent position based in Netherfield, Nottingham, NG4
- Monday-Thursday: 7:00am-4:00pm
- Friday: 7:00am-12:00pm
- Training provided on relevant machinery
