Directorate: Regeneration and Environment
Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week
We are currently looking to recruit a Depot & Stores Operative, to join our in-house Stores operation based in Hellaby, Rotherham which provides over 900 products to a broad spectrum of Council departments, from gloves, uniform, tools, and PPE, to cleaning materials, street signs, wheelie bins, road salt and street lighting columns.
Essentially a trade counter for Council Services, the post holder will be customer facing, receiving deliveries from suppliers whilst ensuring stock levels are maintained, raising invoices accurately and ensuring that teams receive goods needed to execute their work in the community.
The post holder will also be part of the team responsible for the main operational depot in the Borough, ensuring site security and health and safety standards are adhered to, with an opportunity to contribute to the Boroughs emergency response in the case of a major incident.
You will be part of a strong and supportive team and will have the opportunity to develop your skills further as new technology is introduced. You will be hardworking, customer focused, conscientious with a keen eye for detail, and able to work in a busy environment.
In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to supporting the people of Rotherham. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and access to a range of staff discount and flexible benefits schemes.
This role would suit someone working in a retail or trade supply environment currently, or with an interest in gaining new skills and a long-term career working for your local community. Training and development is available through our extensive learning programmes for the right candidate.
Should you wish to discuss the post in more detail, please contact Steve Greig, Depot and Stores Officer by email, at
