Cafe Assistant
Job Overview
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and efficient
Cafe Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play an important role in providing excellent customer service and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the café.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills and experience within a welcoming, fast-paced food and beverage environment. Full training will be provided, so previous café or barista experience is desirable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks, in accordance with our quality standards.
- Assist with food preparation, including sandwiches, salads, snacks, and hot food as required.
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service at all times.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures. Full training will be provided.
- Accurately process cash and card payments using the café's till and card machine. Full training will be provided.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness across work areas, tables, equipment, and customer areas throughout each shift.
- Contribute to maintaining our 5-star hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Work efficiently and remain organised during busy periods, ensuring customers are served promptly without compromising service or quality.
- Work positively as part of the café team and assist colleagues with day-to-day duties as required.
Training and Support
We understand that not everyone will have previous café experience. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate, including training on beverage preparation, food handling, food safety, hygiene procedures, till operation, and customer service.

Desirable
- Previous café, hospitality, customer service, barista, or food preparation experience.
- Previous knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
Previous experience is not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Working Hours and Staff Benefits
This position is intended for applicants who can commit to the working hours required by the business. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer part-time hours specifically to students unless the applicant can commit to the required hours and availability of the role.
The position includes a 30-minute unpaid break.
As a staff benefit, all staff will be provided with food and a drink during their allocated break free of charge. Staff can choose from the food and drink options available, subject to the café's staff food policy and management approval. The food and drink provided will depend on the items selected from the available menu and staff options.
