Job title: Production Operator I
At Johnson Matthey, your work will matter. As a Production Operator I, you’ll join a world leader in platinum group metals with over 200 years of history. Using advanced metals chemistry, you’ll help tackle the world’s biggest challenges - cutting emissions, powering modern life and supporting life‑saving technologies - by applying, refining and recycling metals that matter for a healthier, more sustainable, circular future.
As a Production Operator I, you will help drive our goals by:
- Following standard operating procedures to manufacture platinum group metal alloys and components
- Operating and setting up production equipment safely and effectively
- Monitoring product quality using measuring equipment and recording process data accurately
- Working with colleagues to meet production targets and customer demand
- Supporting waste reduction and continuous improvement activities
- Inspecting, testing and packaging materials ready for further processing or customer delivery
Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:
- Ability to follow clear procedures and maintain strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
- Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards
- Basic IT skills and confidence working with data and systems
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment (desirable)
- Good manual dexterity and coordination with the ability to handle materials safely
