Head of QSHE
Location: Leeds – Hybrid with national travel
Salary: £70,000 + Car Allowance
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
We are recruiting for an experienced Head of QSHE to lead the Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental function for a fast-growing, national Facilities Management business.
This is a senior leadership position with significant visibility across the organisation and the opportunity to directly influence company-wide QSHE strategy.
Working closely with the Executive team, you will take ownership of the business's approach to quality, health and safety, environmental compliance, risk and integrated management systems across a large, multi-site operation.
The position offers hybrid working, alongside regular attendance at the Leeds office and travel to operational locations across the UK.
The Role
As Head of QSHE, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the organisation's overall QSHE strategy while creating a proactive culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing the company-wide QSHE strategy
- Leading the wider QSHE function and developing the team
- Managing integrated management systems including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Taking ownership of corporate Health & Safety governance
- Ensuring compliance with relevant UK Health & Safety legislation
- Managing internal audit programmes and operational site inspections
- Supporting and managing external certification and accreditation processes
- Maintaining and developing the corporate risk register
- Supporting and contributing to the company's Risk Committee
- Leading investigations into significant incidents and implementing corrective actions
- Driving continuous improvement across operational environments
- Supporting environmental compliance and wider ESG initiatives
- Developing QSHE training, competency and awareness programmes
- Producing performance reports and recommendations for the Executive Board
- Working closely with senior operational leaders to embed QSHE standards across the business
About You
We are looking for an experienced QSHE / QHSE / SHEQ professional who is comfortable operating at a senior level within a large and complex organisation.
You may currently be working as:
- Head of QHSE
- Head of SHEQ
- Senior QHSE Manager
- Lead QHSE Manager
- Regional QHSE Manager
- Head of Health & Safety
Ideally, your background will be within Facilities Management or another large-scale, multi-site service environment.
You should have:
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Experience managing integrated ISO management systems
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Strong auditing, risk management and incident investigation experience
- Experience influencing senior operational and Executive stakeholders
- Strong leadership and people development capability
- The ability to move between strategic leadership and operational delivery
- A proactive approach to improving standards and developing a positive safety culture
A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification is important for the role.
CMIOSH status is highly desirable.
