Job Title - Foundry Labourer
Department - Foundry
Reports To - Foundry Supervisor / Production Manager
Salary
Minimum starting rate: £12.71 per hour, or the applicable National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage for the applicant's age.
Higher starting rates may be offered to applicants who can demonstrate relevant skills, qualifications, and previous experience within a foundry, manufacturing, engineering, or other transferable industries.
Job Purpose
To support the foundry production team by carrying out general labouring duties, assisting machine operators, and maintaining a safe, clean and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist gravity die casters and foundry operators during production.
Prepare moulds, dies and equipment for production.
Move castings, materials and tooling safely around the foundry.
Remove excess metal, runners and risers from castings.
Operate basic foundry equipment as trained.
Clean workstations, machinery and foundry floors.
Load and unload materials and finished products.
Assist with furnace preparation and general foundry housekeeping.
Dispose of waste materials in accordance with company procedures.
Carry out manual handling tasks safely.
Report equipment faults or safety hazards immediately.
Follow all health and safety policies and wear PPE correctly.
Support other departments when required.
Skills & Experience
Essential

Awareness of workplace health and safety.
Desirable
Previous foundry or manufacturing experience.
Forklift licence.
Overhead crane experience.
Experience using hand tools or power tools.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry materials within manual handling guidelines.
Comfortable working in hot, dusty and noisy environments.
Ability to stand, bend and carry out repetitive tasks.
Must wear PPE including safety boots, gloves, eye protection and hearing protection.
Working Hours - As required by the business, including shift work and overtime where necessary.
