JOB SUMMARY
Motor Mechanic / MOT Tester – EV Specialist Preferred
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Motor Mechanic to join our busy automotive team. The main focus of this role will be vehicle servicing, diagnostics, repairs and general mechanical work across a range of makes and models.
We are particularly interested in candidates with electric and hybrid vehicle experience, as our business works with a growing number of hybrid and electric vehicles. An MOT Tester qualification is highly desirable, but strong mechanical experience is our main priority.
The successful candidate should be confident working independently, diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs to a high standard, and ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy before they leave the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical repairs, servicing and maintenance on a range of vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment
- Carry out brake, suspension, steering, exhaust, clutch and engine-related repairs
- Perform routine servicing including oil and filter changes, brakes, tyres and other maintenance
- Work on hybrid and electric vehicles, where qualified and experienced
- Identify faults accurately and recommend appropriate repairs
- Carry out vehicle inspections and safety checks
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used
- Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
- Keep the workshop and work area clean, organised and safe
- MOT testing duties where the candidate holds a valid MOT Tester qualification
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience as a Motor Mechanic / Vehicle Technician
- Strong practical knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment
- EV/Hybrid vehicle experience or qualifications are highly desirable
- MOT Tester qualification is an advantage
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Reliable, hardworking and punctual
- Full UK driving licence is preferred
