This role will be a core part of the Outwards Reinsurance Placement and Analytics team, reporting to the Head of Technical Ceded Reinsurance and Strategic Analytics. The Ceded Reinsurance Manager – Data’s role is to support the Outwards Reinsurance team members in delivering high quality analysis and reporting of the Outwards Reinsurance program.
The incumbent is expected to possess extensive knowledge of systems and data and technical Outwards RI concepts, allowing them to contribute to the structuring of the Outwards RI program and Outwards RI project activity.
- Design, build and maintenance of automated submission pack data, compiling gross data and risk profiles to feed into placement process for ORI primarily covering Bespoke and Speciality lines.
- Production and deliver ORI data to support wider business functions such as capital modelling, business planning and placement strategy.
- Manage the process for collecting catastrophe (cat) data, including subsequent analysis and evaluation to inform programme structuring and placement decisions.
- Develop and oversee processes for collecting exposure data to support effective programme structuring and placement.
- Create and maintain ORI management information (MI) packs for internal and external stakeholders, including exposure reporting, actual versus plan analysis, reinsurer analysis, and ad hoc reporting as required.
- Support the Outwards Reinsurance Technical team with incurred recovery calculations, including the enhancement of existing Excel-based recovery tools.
- Assessment of credit risk associated with RI program.
- Provide technical guidance and support to more junior members of Outwards RI team.
- Represent Outwards RI to the Actuarial and Risk Functions.
- University degree, preferably in a numerate field (finance, statistics, economics, mathematics, etc.)
- 5-10 years’ experience in the (re)insurance market in actuarial/risk roles.
- Actuarial qualification an advantage but not essential.
- A very strong level of insurance and reinsurance knowledge required.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of applications with advanced Excel skills such as iterative formulae (nested ifs), multi-criteria lookups (index, match), sumifs and pivot tables.
- Power query/VBA/SQL experience required.
- Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of the Outwards Reinsurance Team as well as with other key stakeholders across different functions within the organization.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle a varied, fluctuating workload.
