The Role – What You’ll Be Doing
As a Support Worker / Carer, you will:
- Provide personalised daily living support (washing, dressing, mobility, nutrition)
- Deliver trauma-informed care, recognising triggers and supporting emotional regulation
- Support individuals with complex emotional and behavioural needs
- Promote independence, choice, and dignity at all times
- Administer medication in line with care plans and training
- Encourage engagement in meaningful activities and community access
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to care reviews
- Work collaboratively with professionals and families
- Create a safe, calm, and structured environment
This is not just task-based care — it is relational support that can genuinely change someone’s life trajectory.
Who We’re Looking For
You may already work in:
- Residential care
- Mental health support
- Supported living
- Complex needs services
- Dementia or behavioural support settings
Or you may be new to care but naturally possess the empathy, patience, and emotional resilience this role requires.
Essential Qualities:
✔ Compassionate and emotionally intelligent
✔ Calm under pressure
✔ Strong professional boundaries
✔ Excellent communication skills
✔ Committed to safeguarding and best practice
✔ Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience supporting individuals with trauma histories
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support (PBS)
- Medication training
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
