Working closely with our QHSES Director, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our high standards, supporting our people, and ensuring our products consistently meet and exceed the expectations of our customers.
About the Role
As our QHSE Manager, you will oversee day-to-day quality and inspection processes, ensuring compliance with ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards across the business. You’ll act as a gatekeeper for incoming goods and finished products, safeguarding customer satisfaction while driving improvements in quality, safety, and environmental performance.
This is a hands-on, influential role suited to an experienced QHSE Manager or an ambitious QHSE/Quality Engineer ready for the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote Quality and Health & Safety across the site, championing ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards.
- Act as the on-site lead for quality, safety, and environmental issues, ensuring thorough investigation and resolution.
- Oversee product inspection, testing, PPAP/FAIRS with support from the Quality Engineer.
- Address day-to-day manufacturing quality concerns, working collaboratively to identify root causes and implement preventative actions.
- Review daily rejects, identifying trends and driving improvements.
- Oversee goods-in inspection and finished goods booking—including physical inspections.
- Manage customer complaints and returns, including 8D investigations and reporting.
- Lead supplier returns, corrective actions, and perform supplier audits where required.
- Support the QHSES Director with IMS maintenance, procedures, and process flows.
- Ensure all calibration processes are completed on time.
- Conduct internal audits and support the audit programme.
- Lead internal quality investigations using recognised tools (5 Why, Ishikawa, 8D).
- Deliver training to embed strong understanding and adherence to the IMS.
- Publish and communicate KPIs across all levels of the business.
- Uphold quality assurance certifications and housekeeping standards.
- Enhance visual management across the manufacturing areas.
- Lead safety activities including risk assessments, site audits, and training.
- Encourage reporting of near misses and hazards.
- Act as key contact for external auditors (ISO9001 / ISO14001) and customers.
- Perform supplier audits where risk or performance indicates a need.
- Support business needs with additional tasks where appropriate.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to confidently represent the business with customers and suppliers.
- Experience with ISO9001:2015.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and inspection equipment.
- Solid experience conducting internal audits through to close-out.
- Strong communication skills across all levels.
- Experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
- Competent in root-cause analysis tools (5 Why, Ishikawa, 8D).
Desirable:
- Experience with ISO14001:2015.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- ERP experience (D365 or similar).
- Background in polymer/rubber manufacturing.
- Experience within the rail/safety-critical supply chain.
