Join a busy, friendly independent pharmacy in the heart of Batley with your Level 2 qualification fully funded if you don't have it yet.
Batley Pharmacy is an independent community pharmacy serving the same families for years. We're looking for a Pharmacy Dispenser to join our small dispensary team on a permanent, full-time basis.
You don't need to be qualified to apply. If you're already NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Pharmacy Services, brilliant, we'll pay accordingly. If you're not, but you're accurate, reliable and want a career in pharmacy, we'll enrol you on an accredited Level 2 course, pay for it in full. complete it.
What you'll be doing
- Labelling, dispensing and endorsing prescriptions accurately and in line with our standard operating procedures
- Preparing monitored dosage systems and compliance aids for patients on multiple medicines
- Creating and updating patient medication records, always protecting patient confidentiality
- Ordering stock and date-checking, so we have what patients need and waste as little as possible
- Storing and handling medicines safely, including controlled drugs
- Supporting NHS services, repeat dispensing, New Medicine Service, Discharge Medicines Service, Pharmacy First and public health campaigns
- Answering patient queries warmly and referring anything clinical to the pharmacist
- Logging near misses and errors honestly, so we keep getting safer
- Keeping the dispensary clean, tidy and organised
What we're looking for
Essential
- A methodical, accurate approach and the concentration to keep it up on a busy day
- Trustworthy, with a clear understanding of confidentiality
- The good sense to know the limits of your own competence and to ask the pharmacist
- Warm, professional communication with patients and colleagues
- Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines as part of a team
- Comfortable with IT and able to learn our patient medication record system
- Willingness to enrol on the accredited Level 2 dispensing course within three months of starting, and complete it, we fund it.
- Willingness to complete mandatory training in safeguarding, health and safety, information governance, and equality and diversity
Desirable
- An accredited pharmacy qualification at RQF Level 2 or Level 3 (formerly NVQ 2 or 3)
- Previous community pharmacy dispensing experience
- Experience of monitored dosage systems and controlled drugs procedures
- An interest in progressing to Level 3 or accuracy checking training in future
What we offer
- £12.75 – £14.00 per hour, depending on your qualifications and experience
- Permanent, full-time, 34.5 hours per week including Sundays and one late finish at 10:30
- 5.6 weeks' paid annual leave (28 days), including bank holidays
