J Kellett Foods Ltd is seeking a highly motivated person to join our team. We are a family run food wholesaler based in Morley, Leeds. The role is a mix of warehouse work and delivery driving (3.5t vans), and the ratio of that mix will change often. A full UK driving licence is required.
This is a term-time-only role. Because we supply a large number of schools, we are busiest during term time and much quieter during the school holidays. You would work the full 39 school weeks of the year and have the school holidays off (ideally following Leeds City Council school holidays). Some of the holiday weeks are covered by your paid annual leave; the remaining weeks are unpaid. To keep your income steady, your full annual wage, including holiday pay, is spread evenly across the year and paid every week, so you receive a consistent, predictable wage all year round, including during the school holidays when you are not working.
About the job:
Warehouse Operative duties include:
- Receiving & checking deliveries
- Replenishing stock
- Assisting in stock management and Food Health & Safety procedures
- Picking orders
- Loading products onto vans
- Keeping all areas clean and tidy
- Using a forklift
- Taking on additional responsibilities during busy periods or during a colleague's annual leave
Delivery Driver duties (mainly in and around the Leeds area, but further afield is possible):
- Delivering to customers (excellent customer service skills required)
- Checking every order to ensure it is correct
- Collecting orders from suppliers
- Assisting in keeping vehicles clean & tidy, both inside and out
- Completing any necessary paperwork
Hours
Standard working hours are 6:30am to 2:50pm (20 min unpaid break), Monday to Friday, during term-time working weeks.
Overtime is essential during busy term-time periods.
Full disclosure: 50 hour working weeks are possible at extremely busy times, although these should be rare.
About you:
- Previous warehouse experience is not required
- You must be able to safely lift heavy objects
- A full UK driving licence is required
- You must be disciplined, punctual, and work well in a team
- A willingness and flexibility to work regular overtime when required is essential
