Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations within our workshop environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, including fabrication, welding, electrical and mechanical knowledge, alongside excellent leadership capabilities. This role involves supervising a team engaged in assembly, equipment repair, and maintenance activities, ensuring safety standards are upheld and work is completed efficiently. The Shop Supervisor will also be responsible for coordinating the use of power tools, hand tools, and heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts. A commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and maintaining a safe working environment is essential.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily workshop activities.
- Oversee the utilisation of equipment including power tools and hand tool.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations across all operations
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment to minimise downtime
- Provide technical guidance on schematics interpretation, electrical systems, and mechanical components
- Lead a team of technicians and operators, organising work schedules and delegating tasks effectively
- Conduct quality control checks on completed work to meet company standards
- Foster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement and safety compliance
- Liaise with clients or project managers to ensure customer requirements are met with professionalism
Requirements
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical systems, or mechanical maintenance
- Strong knowledge of schematics and technical drawings
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, heavy machinery (including excavators and forklifts), and equipment repair
- Demonstrated leadership skills with prior supervisory or team-leading experience in a workshop setting
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks
- Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Good communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in welding, electrical work or mechanical trades are desirable but not essential
