Mechanic Technician
Morley MOT & Service Centre are looking to employ new staff to join our busy team. This will ensure we meet our reputation of a reliable, family friendly, honest and trust worthy garage.
We have a vacancy for a mechanics / vehicle technicians qualified to NVQ level 2 or higher, a minimum of 4 years’ workshop experience is essential, and own tools are a must.
MOT testers qualification would be an advantage but not essential.
Knowledge Abilities and Skills
- Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment of the motor mechanic and/or heavy-duty mechanic trade.
- Considerable knowledge of the operating principles of petrol and diesel engines.
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Ability to plan, and implement work on own initiative as well a part of a team
Main Objectives
- To carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance to a high standard.
- Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately using computer based diagnostic equipment.
- Resolving defects, repairing or replacing broken or defective parts.
- To maintain job sheets, keep records of labour, materials, parts, supplies and other records necessary in the repair and maintenance process
- To carry out MOT tests to the level of qualification
- To perform related work as required.
- To Keep customers well informed, dealing with customers queries and advising customers of progress and additional work required in the absence of the garage manager
- To inspect and monitor work areas, ensuring a safe and clean work space
- To maintain equipment making sure tools are in good condition
