Role: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs & Personal Care)
Reports to: SENDCO
Contract: Full Time, term time only, fixed term contract relating to individual pupil
(core hours - 8.30am - 3.30pm)
Pay (depending on qualifications & experience): From Grade 4, point 8 to Grade 4 point 10 ofthe NJC Local Government Pay Scale (£26,824 to £27,694 FTE)

From September 2026, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex physical and learning needs.
This is a highly specialist role requiring a candidate who is confident supporting personal care,mobility, and therapeutic programmes.
Key responsibilities:
Provide individualised 1:1 support following a bespoke timetable designed by the SENDteam
Support personal care needs, including toileting, dressing and feeding
Undertake manual handling and hoisting, ensuring safe transfer in line with care plans
Assist the pupil in accessing and using specialist equipment (e.g. seating, standing frame, mobility aids)
Deliver daily physiotherapy programmes under the guidance of trained professionals
Work closely with teachers, therapists and SEND staff to implement personalised learning and care plans
Support engagement in a sensory and developmental curriculum tailored to the pupil’s needs
Monitor and record progress, wellbeing and responses to activities
The Teaching Assistant position will be working on a 1:1 basis working with a young person with associated conditions of autism, social and emotional needs, cognitive and learning needs as well as physical needs. Experience working within a school environment would be an advantage.
The candidate will contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personalcare of the children and young people with regard to the Keeping Children safe in Education(KCSIE) guidelines and Area Child Protection Procedures.
