Overview
We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to lead and support our warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong logistics and supply chain background, while also being willing and able to take part in day-to-day warehouse tasks when needed. This role combines supervisory responsibility with practical warehouse work, including lifting, loading, and forklift operation.
Responsibilities
1. Shift Operations Management
Take full responsibility for operational performance during assigned shifts.
Oversee inbound, outbound, sorting, and cargo handling activities.
Ensure all operations are completed in line with cut-off times, SLA requirements, and operational targets.
2. Team Leadership & Workforce Management
Supervise frontline employees and allocate work based on operational priorities and workload.
Monitor attendance, punctuality, productivity, and workforce utilisation.
Provide on-the-job coaching, guidance, and training to support employee development and performance.
3. Safety, Security & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations, Aviation Security (AvSec) requirements, and company procedures.
Ensure all employees wear appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices.
Report, investigate, and respond appropriately to accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
4. Exception Handling & Problem Solving
Identify and resolve operational issues including delays, staffing shortages, system failures, and cargo-related exceptions.
Take immediate corrective actions to minimise operational disruption.
Escalate critical operational issues to management where necessary.
5. Quality Control & Process Compliance
Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions are consistently followed.
Monitor scanning accuracy, operational quality, and cargo handling standards.
Prevent mis-sorts, missed scans, handling errors, and other operational defects.
6. Reporting & Shift Handover
Complete shift reports, operational performance records, and incident reports accurately and on time.
Conduct comprehensive handovers to the incoming shift.
Provide management with feedback on operational risks, delays, and continuous improvement opportunities.
7. Resource & Equipment Management
Ensure equipment, vehicles, and operational tools are available, maintained, and used correctly.
Report equipment defects and coordinate maintenance activities.
Manage overtime, workforce allocation, and operational consumables to maximise efficiency and control costs.
Qualifications
Proven experience in warehouse management or team leadership within logistics/distribution.
Hands-on warehouse experience, with the ability to lift and handle goods (18–25kg) safely.
Forklift operation skills (Counterbalance, Reach, or Flexi/Bendi); valid certification preferred.
Knowledge of shipping/receiving procedures and customs-controlled warehouse operations (ETSF experience a plus).
Strong supervisory skills with the ability to lead by example and support staff in daily operations.
Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
