First Class Support are an award winning NMH provider for students in receipt of Disabled Students Allowance. We pride ourselves on employing first class support professionals to provide high quality and individual support for students throughout their time at university.
We are looking for a Specialist Support Professional with a background in either deaf, blind, or multi-sensory studies to provide bespoke support for the individual needs of students with multi-sensory impairments which reflects their method of communication, educational history, and experience.
Your role can include breaking assignment briefs and English concepts, developing research and composition strategies.
Also working on the structure and mode of presentations, organisation, and time management to facilitate strategies for independent learning.
The support provided by this role is bespoke to the combined vision and hearing impairments of the student (including deafblind students). You will be expected to use appropriate communication strategies to enable access and understanding of vocabulary, and to access research sources and appropriate modification of the language of assignments.
This position is based in Falmer, Brighton.
As this role is funded by the DSA, we require our Support Workers to be qualified with a Teachers of Children and Young People with Multi-Sensory Impairment (Deafblindness) MA/Postgraduate Diploma OR any Postgraduate Qualification PLUS a deaf OR blind OR MSI-related specialist qualification.

Please Note: The working hours vary according to the needs of the student and the academic timetable. Due to the nature of the role, our support workers are required to be registered or become registered Self Employed.
