Welder Required - Cornwall
We are looking for a skilled Welder to join a highly successful engineering and fabrication company throughout Cornwall. This role involves welding and assembling metal components to a high standard while working from technical drawings and specifications. The successful candidate will be safety-conscious, reliable, and capable of producing quality workmanship in a fast-paced workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out MIG welding operations on steel, stainless steel, and aluminium components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and components.
- Operate workshop machinery and hand tools including grinders, drills, cutting equipment, and presses.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality and structural integrity.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, fabricators, and production staff to meet project deadlines.
- Follow all company health & safety procedures and industry standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience in welding and fabrication.
- Ability to read technical and engineering drawings.
- Experience with MIG welding processes preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexible attitude and willingness to assist with wider workshop duties when required.
- Relevant welding qualifications or certifications are desirable but not essential.
Desirable Skills
- Experience within marine, shipyard, structural steel, or heavy engineering environments.
- Knowledge of fabrication machinery and metal forming techniques.
