We are opening a brand new 27-place nursery in Surrey Quays in January 2027 and we are recruiting Level 3 practitioners for both of our rooms - under 2s and 2 to 5s.
Joining a setting at opening is rare. You get a room that has never been used, a team that grows around you, and children whose very first experience of nursery is the one you help create. If you have ever wanted to do things properly from the start rather than work around habits set before you arrived, this is that job.
What you will be doing
- Acting as key person to a small group of children, building close relationships with them and their families
- Planning and delivering activities that follow children's interests and move their learning on
- Observing, recording and assessing progress across the EYFS areas of learning
- Settling new children and supporting them through transitions
- Keeping the room safe, welcoming and well organised, indoors and out
- Meeting children's care needs - feeding, nappy changes, sleep routines, toileting - with patience and dignity
- Sharing children's days honestly and warmly with parents at drop-off and pick-up
- Following safeguarding, health and safety, and safer eating and sleeping practice at all times
What we are looking for
Essential:
- Full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years or above
- Good working knowledge of the EYFS
- Genuine enthusiasm for being on the floor with children
- A reliable, positive team member who communicates well with colleagues and parents
- Eligible to work in the UK and willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check with children's barred list
Desirable:
- Experience with under 2s
- Paediatric First Aid certificate
- Experience supporting children with SEND or English as an additional language
- An interest in progressing to Room Leader - we would like to grow our leaders internally
What we offer
- Funded training and a clear route to Room Leader
- A small setting where you are not a number
- Surrey Quays and Canada Water stations a short walk away, with Jubilee line and Overground links
How to apply
Apply with your CV. We will be in touch for a short telephone chat, followed by an interview and a paid taster session in the room.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments are subject to an Enhanced DBS check with children's barred list, satisfactory references covering the last five years, verification of qualifications and identity, and a full employment history with any gaps explored. Shortlisted candidates should expect online searches to be carried out as part of our recruitment process. We welcome applications from all backgrounds.
