Job Summary
The Semi-Skilled Construction Operative supports the delivery of high-quality loft conversion projects by assisting qualified tradespeople and completing a variety of construction tasks to a high standard. Working alongside Joiners, Site Supervisors and other trades, the role requires a practical approach, willingness to learn and the ability to contribute effectively to the successful completion of residential renovation projects.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of construction practices, be able to work safely and efficiently, and be keen to continue developing their skills within a professional building environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist qualified Joiners and tradespeople with loft conversion works.
- Carry out a range of semi-skilled construction tasks including preparation, installation and finishing works.
- Assist with first and second fix activities under guidance where required.
- Carry out basic carpentry and joinery tasks within their level of competence.
- Assist with timber framing, stud walls, insulation, flooring and general building works.
- Support the installation of doors, skirting boards, architraves and other finishing items.
- Carry out preparation work for other trades including plasterers, electricians and plumbers.
- Complete tasks accurately and to the required quality standards.
Skills
- Previous experience working within a construction, refurbishment or building environment.
- Basic understanding of residential construction methods.
- Ability to use common hand tools and power tools safely.
- Practical approach with good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
