Kingswood School is looking for a proactive and reliable Caretaker to join our Estates team and play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our Foundation. This varied role includes opening and securing buildings, carrying out routine maintenance and repairs, supporting events, managing keys, assisting with porterage and deliveries, responding to helpdesk requests, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. You will also work closely with contractors, support traffic management.
A key part of the role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety, emergency lighting checks, water hygiene monitoring, swimming pool testing, and other statutory inspections. As part of a duty rota, you will provide out-of-hours cover, responding to alarms, emergency call-outs, security incidents, and urgent maintenance issues during evenings, weekends, bank holidays and holiday closure periods. Studio accommodation can be provided to support the on-call requirements of the role.

The salary for this role is in the region of £33,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience. The hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with hours worked on a rota basis between 6.00am and 10.30pm. In addition, the postholder will also participate in the Duty Caretaker rota, providing weekend Duty Caretaking cover for approximately 17 weekends per year, with the other two Caretakers sharing the remaining weekends.
