Freshways is the largest privately owned dairy and morning goods processor and distributor, with sites spread across the UK and a client portfolio spread across independent retail, wholesale and food service distribution.
We are currently seeking experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer at the Company’s new principal processing facility based in Smethwick, West Midlands.
The role will report to the Site Engineering Manager and be required to drive a proactive approach towards the maintenance, repair and improvement of equipment, in order to support the larger objective of fulfilling the daily production plan and achieving performance targets through smooth and continuous operation.
Core responsibilities of this role include:
- Efficient and effective resolution of mechanical & electrical breakdowns with minimal disruption to production.
- Liaising with production teams to resolve ongoing problems.
- Undertake regular inspections and periodic servicing of machinery and critical equipment, in accordance with the preventative maintenance program.
- Assist contractors on site whilst ensuring compliance with relevant procedures.
- Coordinating and actively supporting commissioning of major projects
The role is ideal for a candidate having a strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of electrical / Mechanical fault finding within an automated packaging environment, and holds Mechanical qualifications, thorough understanding of HSEQ standards and practices and basic understanding of project management, and can demonstrate positive behaviours of being quality conscious and passionate about work, innovative and explores beyond the role boundaries, customer focused – internal and external, believer in continuous improvement and is tenacious and committed to actioning while engaging in collaborative workings and development of self and others.
The role is normally over a 5 days week including weekend cover and shifts would be assigned subject to team Rota.

Pay: £38,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
