MYM Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for Draperstown After School Club who provides childcare and play activities for children of primary school age. Due to an increase in workload, the company require a Childcare Assistant to provide a high level of support to the busy team and assist with school pick ups.
Key Duties/Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- To share responsibility for the welfare of the children at the Club, following procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality care
- To be vigilant and protect children from harm or abuse, reporting any concerns immediately in accordance with the safeguarding and whistle blowing Policies
- To assist with school collections, walking the children to the Club from St Mary’s PS and also travelling with the minibus driver to collect children from other schools in the parish
- To assist in providing creative and appropriate play and learning opportunities
- To assist with the preparation and serving of healthy snacks
- To assist with the supervision of homework
- To provide additional assistance for children with particular difficulties (eg communication, behaviour, mobility) being particularly mindful of safeguarding and health and safety
- To create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all children
- To work flexibly as part of the team, assisting and supporting colleagues as required.
- To be reliable and punctual
- To contribute to planning and preparation of a range of indoor and outdoor age appropriate activities
- Undertake any necessary training
- Adhere to and uphold Draperstown After School Club’s Code of Conduct, policies, procedures and values
Essential criteria:
- Must be in possession of or working towards an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or equivalent.
- Experience of working with children in the 4-11 year old age group in a paid or unpaid capacity for a reasonable period of time.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety.
- Ability to interact calmly, enthusiastically and respectfully with team members, children and parents.
- Awareness of the need for confidentiality and boundaries
- Good standard of English and Maths.
Desirable
- GCSE Maths and English
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Food Hygiene Certificate

Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
