We are building something special: classic sports car soul with modern electric performance. Our mission is to create beautifully engineered retro-inspired sports cars that combine timeless design, cutting-edge EV technology, and an unforgettable driving experience.
We're looking for a Head Engineer who is as comfortable with a laptop as they are with a spanner. This is not a corporate desk job. We need a practical engineering leader who loves solving problems, building prototypes, getting hands-on in the workshop, and helping turn ambitious ideas into road-ready vehicles.
The Role
As Head Engineer, you will lead the technical development of our electric sports car programme, overseeing everything from concept design and prototyping through to vehicle integration, testing, validation, and production launch.
You will work closely with founders, suppliers, technicians, and manufacturing partners, acting as the technical heartbeat of the business.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new generation of British sports cars from our base in Ebbw Vale, Wales.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership
- Lead all vehicle engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, and systems integration.
- Develop and execute the product engineering roadmap.
- Build and manage engineering processes, standards, and documentation.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop future engineering talent as the company grows.
EV Powertrain Development
- Lead integration of electric motors, batteries, inverters, charging systems, and vehicle control systems.
- Oversee high-voltage architecture development and safety compliance.
- Work with suppliers to select and validate EV components.
- Support battery packaging, thermal management, and vehicle performance optimisation.
Prototype & Vehicle Development
- Be actively involved in prototype builds and workshop activities.
- Solve engineering challenges in real time during vehicle assembly and testing.
- Design, develop, and validate new components and systems.
- Manage vehicle testing programmes and performance development.
Manufacturing & Production
- Ensure designs are manufacturable, scalable, and cost-effective.
- Work closely with fabrication, machining, and assembly teams.
- Establish quality standards and engineering sign-off procedures.
- Support transition from prototype to low-volume production.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all engineering activities meet relevant UK and European automotive standards.
- Lead risk assessments and engineering reviews.
- Champion a strong safety culture, particularly surrounding high-voltage systems.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience developing vehicles, powertrains, or complex engineering products.
- Strong hands-on engineering and problem-solving ability.
- Experience managing engineering projects from concept to delivery.
- Excellent CAD and engineering design knowledge.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving start-up or entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and work alongside technicians and builders when required.
Desirable Experience
- High-voltage electric vehicle qualifications or certifications.
- Experience with EV systems integration, battery systems, or power electronics.
- Knowledge of vehicle homologation and automotive regulations.
- Experience developing sports cars, performance vehicles, kit cars, or low-volume automotive products.
- Familiarity with CAN Bus systems and vehicle control software.
- Motorsport engineering experience.
- Experience with prototype development and rapid iteration programmes.
