Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Groundsperson/labourer to join our team assisting a tree surgeon. This role involves working outdoors to maintain and care for trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of tree care and landscaping tasks, ensuring the health and safety of trees while supporting overall site maintenance. A keen interest in landscape maintenance is essential, along with mechanical knowledge and experience with power tools. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in landscaping, tree care, and arboriculture within a professional environment.
Duties
- Assist with the pruning, trimming, and removal of trees and shrubs using hand tools and power tools such as chainsaws and hedge trimmers
- Support ground-based operations including planting, watering, fertilising, and general landscape maintenance
- Operate machinery including excavators for lifting and moving heavy materials or tree sections
- Conduct routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency
- Assist with site preparation for construction or landscaping projects
- Ensure all work areas are kept safe, organised, and free from hazards
- Support team members with specialised tasks related to horticulture and garden care
Experience
- Previous experience in landscape maintenance is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge related to power tools, excavators, and other landscaping equipment is advantageous
- Familiarity with hand tools used in landscaping and construction work
- Experience working with construction or landscaping teams will be beneficial
- The ideal candidate will hold qualifications in the use of chainsaws and wood-chippers, however this is not necessary and training can be provided
- All candidates must hold a Full UK Driver's License
