The Gloucester Old Spot is a busy, food-led independent pub, renowned for our hearty homemade dishes, excellent selection of real ales, and commitment to using locally sourced ingredients and drinks wherever possible. Our beautiful beer garden accommodates over 150 guests, making us a popular destination throughout the year.
We're looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Assistant Manager to join our friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about hospitality and ready to take the next step in their career within a thriving independent pub.

The Role
This is a hands-on management role with responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the bar and restaurant while leading the team to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the overall management of the bar and restaurant.
- Leading and motivating the front-of-house team to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Managing shifts and ensuring the pub operates efficiently.
- Assisting with staff training, development, and performance.
- Helping with stock control, ordering, and cellar management.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation throughout the business.
- Handling customer queries and resolving issues professionally.
- Leading by example and creating a positive, supportive working environment.
Full training will be provided on our systems and procedures; however, previous experience in a busy pub, bar, or restaurant is essential. Previous supervisory or management experience is required.
Hours
- 36 hours per week.
- Five days per week.
- A mixture of straight and split shifts.
- Two midweek days off.
Salary is competitive and will be based on experience.
