The Role: Complex Care Support Assistant – Sensory & Physical Needs
Pay: £14.00 per hour, increasing to £14.50 per hour once competency sign-off has been completed.
Location: Derby, DE24
Contract: Term Time Only
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 3:30pm
Holidays: Annual leave must be taken during non-term time. Contracted hours will reduce to zero during school holidays and other non-term periods.
About the Role
Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with complex needs? Josh’s Care Company is looking for a Complex Care Support Assistant to join our team in Derby. In this role, you will provide 1:1 support within a school environment, assisting pupils with significant physical disabilities, complex needs, medical conditions, and sensory impairments.
You will play a key part in ensuring pupils are supported safely and effectively throughout the school day, enabling them to access education and participate in activities as fully as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to pupils with complex physical and medical needs within the school setting.
- Assist with personal care, mobility, and positioning throughout the school day.
- Support with medical interventions and follow individual care plans (training provided where required).
- Work closely with teaching staff and healthcare professionals to ensure consistent and safe care.
- Promote independence, inclusion, and participation in classroom activities.
- Monitor and report changes in health, wellbeing, or behaviour.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding and school policies.

- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, physical disabilities, or medical conditions (school or care experience desirable).
- A caring, patient, and reliable approach.
- Confidence in providing personal care and physical support.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow care plans and work within professional boundaries.
- A proactive and solution-focused mindset.
