About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive Bookkeeper to join our team. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial records, supporting both day-to-day operational accounting and broader business decision-making.
The successful candidate will manage a wide range of bookkeeping and financial administration tasks, including sales and purchase transaction processing, payroll management, bank reconciliations, and cost analysis. You will work closely with management to provide accurate financial insights that help drive strategic and operational decisions, ensuring our business continues to maintain its reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record-Keeping & Transaction Processing
- Accurately process and verify all daily financial transactions, including sales, supplier invoices, expenses, and credit notes.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate ledgers for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare trial balances and financial summaries as required.
Reconciliations & Reporting
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and petty cash balances.
- Monitor aged debtors and creditors, ensuring prompt resolution of discrepancies.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes and preparation for external audits.
Payroll Administration
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including wage calculations, statutory deductions, and pension contributions.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, reporting deadlines, and record-keeping requirements.
- Liaise with employees to resolve payroll queries.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, accounting, and payroll regulations.
- Liaise with external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors as required.
- Recommend and implement improvements to financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a similar finance role.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, inventory, and cost accounting.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective liaison with internal teams and external partners.
Desirable
- AAT Level 3 or above, or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting qualification.
- Familiarity with payroll systems and HMRC reporting requirements.

Pay: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
