Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs within an inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, pupils, and external professionals to facilitate personalised learning and promote positive behavioural development. Duties
- Assist classroom teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
- Support children with autism, disabilities, and those requiring specialised care, including toddlers.
- Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) under the guidance of teaching staff and external specialists.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that encourages learning and social interaction.
- Support children during lessons, activities, and breaks to promote engagement and independence.
- Assist with behavioural management strategies to ensure positive behaviour throughout the school day.
- Communicate effectively with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals to support personalised learning goals.
- Help organise classroom materials and resources to facilitate smooth lesson delivery.
- Contribute to the organisation of extracurricular activities that promote social skills and confidence.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is highly desirable.
- Experience in working with SEND
- Prior experience in teaching or supporting children within a special education setting is advantageous.
- Knowledge of special education practices and behaviour management techniques.
- Experience working with young children is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pupils, colleagues, and families.
- Compassionate, patient, organised, and committed to supporting inclusive education.
- Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are beneficial but not essential; a genuine passion for working with children is required.
