Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Quality Manager to lead our Quality Control function and work closely alongside our Compliance Manager to ensure the highest standards of food safety, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
This is a key leadership role within our technical team, responsible for ensuring products consistently meet specification through robust quality control systems, real-time monitoring, testing, and on-floor intervention. Working collaboratively with the Compliance Manager, you will help drive a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and audit readiness across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control Leadership
- Lead and develop the Quality Control team across all production operations.
- Ensure products consistently meet customer, legal, and internal quality standards.
- Provide a strong quality presence on the factory floor, driving standards and accountability.
- Promote a culture of quality ownership throughout the business.
Product Quality Assurance
- Monitor product conformity and specification compliance.
- Support investigation and resolution of quality-related complaints and non-conformances.
Operational Quality Management
- Ensure effective completion of CCP monitoring activities, including metal detection and critical control checks.
- Manage weight, fill, and process control systems.
- Oversee line monitoring activities to identify and escalate issues in real time.
- Implement corrective actions to minimise quality failures and production losses.
Non-Conformance & Continuous Improvement
- Lead product hold, release, and non-conformance management processes.
- Analyse quality trends and data to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with operational teams to implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Support root cause investigations alongside the Compliance Manager.
Team Development
- Coach, mentor, and develop Quality Assurance team members.
- Deliver training and guidance on quality standards and operational controls.
- Build capability and engagement within the quality team.
Collaboration with Compliance
Working in partnership with the Compliance Manager, you will:
- Share quality performance data and emerging risks.
- Support updates to SOPs, HACCP plans, and control measures based on quality findings.
- Assist in customer, certification (COA), and regulatory audits.
- Ensure operational controls align with food safety and compliance requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across both Quality and Compliance functions.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience within a Quality Manager, QA Manager, or Technical Quality role in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting audits (ISO9001, ISO4001, and ISO45001.) and customer visits.
- Strong understanding of food safety, quality management systems, and customer requirements.
- HACCP qualification.
- Knowledge of BRCGS, retailer standards, and GFSI-recognised schemes.
- Experience managing quality control operations and laboratory/testing activities.
- Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong leadership and team development experience.
- Ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the business.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
Desirable
- Food manufacturing, beverage, FMCG, or related industry experience.
