Community Pharmacy Technician Apprentice
Hours: Full-time (Minimum 30 hours per week)

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join our pharmacy team as a Community Pharmacy Technician Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to complete a nationally recognised Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship while earning a salary and gaining valuable practical experience in a busy community pharmacy.
Throughout the two-year apprenticeship you will develop the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required to become a General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Registered Pharmacy Technician.
Working alongside experienced pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and the wider healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care whilst learning all aspects of modern community pharmacy practice.
About the role
As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice you will work under the supervision of registered pharmacy professionals and will gradually develop competence in a wide range of activities, including:
- Supporting the safe and accurate supply of medicines.
- Dispensing prescriptions and preparing medicines for patients.
- Providing excellent customer and patient care.
- Supporting patients with medicines advice under supervision.
- Developing knowledge of medicines, pharmacy law and professional practice.
- Undertaking medicines reconciliation and final accuracy checking as part of the apprenticeship programme.
- Maintaining accurate records and following pharmacy procedures.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Developing skills in patient-facing services and medicines optimisation.
- Completing workplace assessments and maintaining your apprenticeship portfolio.
Your apprenticeship
This is a fully supported 24-month apprenticeship programme combining practical workplace experience with structured learning delivered by an approved apprenticeship provider.
You will receive:
- Protected paid study time (one day per week) for off-the-job learning.
- Support from a designated Educational Supervisor and experienced Practice Supervisors.
- Regular progress reviews and feedback.
- A structured workplace training programme linked to the apprenticeship standard.
- Opportunities to develop clinical, technical and professional skills.
- Support towards registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) upon successful completion.

Entry requirements
Applicants should normally have:
- Four GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above, including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Science
- One other subject
- The right to work in the UK and meet apprenticeship eligibility requirements.
- A willingness to complete pre-employment checks, including a DBS check.
Applicants must also satisfy the eligibility requirements of the apprenticeship provider before enrolment.

Important information
This apprenticeship is a minimum of 30 hours per week and lasts 24 months. Successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, attend all apprenticeship training, complete off-the-job learning during paid working hours, and actively engage with workplace assessments throughout the programme.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and achievement of all required knowledge, skills and behaviours, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
