We are seeking a friendly, experienced, and dedicated Bar Supervisor to join our vibrant hospitality team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of the bar during shifts, supporting and supervising the bar team, maintaining excellent service standards, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for our guests. The ideal candidate will have previous hospitality experience, strong leadership and organisational skills, and the ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the bar team during shifts, ensuring staff work efficiently and follow company procedures.
- Oversee the preparation and service of drinks and food, maintaining consistently high standards of quality and customer service.
- Lead by example by providing friendly, professional, and efficient service to customers.
- Ensure the bar is fully stocked and organised throughout the shift, coordinating restocking where necessary.
- Monitor cleanliness and hygiene standards across the bar, including glassware, utensils, equipment, and work surfaces.
- Ensure staff check identification appropriately and comply with licensing laws, health and safety requirements, and company policies.
- Manage cash handling and till operations, ensuring transactions are accurate and any discrepancies are dealt with appropriately.
- Delegate tasks to team members and ensure all shift responsibilities are completed effectively.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cashing up, securing stock, cleaning, and ensuring the bar is left ready for the next shift.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with stock counts, deliveries, and inventory management.
- Deal professionally with customer queries, complaints, and difficult situations, escalating issues to management where appropriate.
- Support the training and development of new and existing team members.
- Communicate effectively with management and other departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, presentation, and teamwork at all times.
Experience
- Previous experience in hospitality, food service, or a supervisory role is essential.
- Previous experience working behind a bar is highly desirable.
- Experience supervising or leading a team in a busy hospitality environment is advantageous.
- Knowledge of food safety, health and safety, and alcohol licensing requirements is desirable.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods.
- Good cash-handling and basic mathematical skills are necessary.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to lead and support a team.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make effective decisions during busy or challenging shifts.
- A friendly, professional attitude and a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to identify issues and resolve them without constant supervision.
