A specialist SEN school in South Liverpool is seeking a caring and motivated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September 2026. This is a full-time opportunity to support children with complex additional needs in a welcoming, inclusive, and rewarding educational setting.
The school provides specialist education for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and complex autism. The successful candidate will have previous experience in either an SEND or care environment and will be confident using a patient, nurturing, and flexible approach to support pupils both academically and personally.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils with complex needs and wants to make a lasting difference within a specialist school environment.
The Role
- Support pupils with a range of complex learning and physical needs throughout the school day.
- Assist with personal care while promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing.
- Help create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment that meets individual pupil needs.
- Encourage progress through sensory activities, communication strategies, and structured learning opportunities.
- Work alongside teachers, therapists, teaching assistants, and other professionals to deliver high-quality support.
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds an NCFE, CACHE Level 2 or Level 3, or a qualification in Health & Social Care (desirable).
- Has previous experience supporting children or adults with PMLD, SLD, complex autism, or physical disabilities within an education or care setting.
- Demonstrates resilience, compassion, and adaptability when supporting pupils with a wide range of needs.
- Works effectively as part of a team and is committed to helping every pupil achieve their potential.
Requirements
- Able to provide references covering the previous five years.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or is willing to apply for one.
