We have a fantastic opportunity for a PR Specialist to join the PR team at Morrisons Head Office in West Yorkshire.
In this role, you’ll develop stories that support Morrisons brand and products across consumer media and corporate campaigns, and help staff a lively press office. You will also have specific responsibility for managing the media programme for our beers, wine and spirits range, particularly at important times of year like Christmas.
This is a full time, permanent role, working in a small, busy team. You will work closely with the senior PR Manager and PR Director to develop effective PR plans across a broad range of areas.
This role has the following responsibilities:
Customers
- Work with the wider PR team to develop news and campaigns that highlight Morrisons activities in the following areas:
- Great shopkeeping and food making
- Quality and excellence of our products
- Good honest value and Loyalty
- Sustainability
- Manage media activity by handling editorial and product requests and addressing any potential issues promptly
Colleagues
- Work with teams from around the business to identify projects requiring PR support, devising and executing communications plans as appropriate
- Play a leading role in creative meetings and brainstorms, helping to identify compelling PR opportunities for the business
Operations
- Develop news stories and imagery to support campaigns - specifically producing press releases, photography briefs and broadcast opportunities that support Morrisons communications agenda
- Pitch stories successfully to national, regional and trade media while building strong relationships with journalists
- Play an important role in organising PR events to support seasonal and product specific campaigns, including those for for our beers, wines and spirits range
- Communicate confidently and effectively with senior members of the Morrisons team to identify and manage news stories
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills; including providing advice on how to respond to challenging issues
- Manage agency relationships, collaborate with multiple agencies to complete projects and evaluate performance against plan and KPIs.

- Ensure that PR programmes are effective, efficient and delivered on budget
- Provide evidence of effectiveness for reports on performance through appropriate measurement of results

We expect the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
A good understanding of the consumer media environment and individual journalist output
- An interest in the news and experience of pitching news-related stories to the media
- The ability to generate original PR ideas for evaluation
- Strong written and oral communications skills, with a ‘right first time’ approach
- An ability to craft well-judged, convincing messages for key campaigns
- Three or more years’ recent experience working in a communications PR, either agency or in-house
