We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and patient Male Overnight Sleeping Support Worker to provide overnight support for a young male client with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and OCD. The client has capacity and values his independence; therefore, the role is focused on providing reassurance, maintaining a safe environment, and offering support only if required during the night.
This is a sleeping night position, where the expectation is that the carer sleeps during the shift but remains available to respond should the client require assistance or experience any difficulties overnight.
The successful candidate will be calm, respectful, and understanding of neurodiversity, with the ability to build a trusting, professional relationship while promoting the client's dignity, independence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overnight sleeping support in the client's home.
- Be available to respond promptly should the client require reassurance or support during the night.
- Ensure the client's safety and wellbeing throughout the shift.
- Support the client in accordance with their person-centred care plan and risk assessments.
- Maintain a calm, structured, and reassuring approach if the client experiences anxiety or distress.
- Accurately record any incidents, observations, or support provided during the shift.
- Communicate effectively with family members and the management team where appropriate.
- Respect the client's privacy, choices, routines, and independence at all times.
- Follow safeguarding procedures, health and safety policies, and company guidelines.
- Report any concerns or significant changes in the client's presentation to the office promptly.
Essential Requirements
- Male carer (this is an occupational requirement due to the client's assessed needs).
- Previous experience supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or mental health needs is preferred.
- Calm, patient, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach.
- Excellent communication and observation skills.
- Ability to remain professional while promoting the client's independence.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing high-quality person-centred care.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Willingness to complete all mandatory training.
Pay: £600.00-£800.00 per week
