Role Purpose:
The General Manager will provide full operational leadership and strategic direction to Face Consultants Ltd - Testing, ensuring continued growth, leadership, client satisfaction, and profitability in a specialised niche market. You will oversee all core activities — Office teams, surveying & testing teams, quality assurance, and business development — while maintaining our position as the global authority in industrial floor flatness and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of the company’s day-to-day operations, ensuring delivery of exceptional technical services and client satisfaction.
- Recruitment and interviewing
- Develop and implement the annual business plan, budget, and medium-term strategy in alignment with CoGri Group objectives
- Lead, motivate, and actively manage a team of specialist floor surveyors, testing engineers, site supervisors, and office based support staff
- Oversee technical delivery across all service lines
- High-precision digital floor flatness & levelness surveys and compliance testing
- On-site assistance monitoring
- Consultancy for specialist applications (very flat floors, VNA, automated systems, etc.)
- Drive business development and client relationships with major logistics operators, developers, contractors, MHE suppliers, and end-users worldwide
- Ensure consistent compliance with international standards (TR34, ASTM E1155, DIN, EN 15620, etc.) and maintenance of the company’s independent & impartial status
- Manage financial performance — revenue growth, margin control, project costing and commercial tendering
- Oversee health & safety, quality systems (ISO 17025 where applicable), equipment calibration, and investment in latest surveying technology (digital profilers, laser equipment, etc.)
- Represent the company and Group at industry events, conferences, and with key clients; enhance brand reputation as the technical leader in the sector
- Coordinate with CoGri Group leadership on group synergies, resource sharing, and international expansion
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in a technical/engineering services business — ideally in specialist construction consultancy, materials testing, geotechnical/flooring, metrology, or industrial surveying
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing P&L responsibility, growing revenue, and winning projects/tenders
- Technical background advantageous (civil/structural engineering, construction management, surveying, concrete technology, or related discipline)
- Experience managing field-based technical teams (surveyors, engineers, site supervisors) and dealing with complex, high-value projects
- Familiarity with industrial flooring, warehouse design, MHE (VNA trucks, reach trucks, AGVs/AMRs), or floor flatness/levelness standards is highly desirable
- Comfortable with international travel when necessary.
- Excellent client-facing, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- HNC / Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant technical or business discipline
- Full UK driving licence (business travel required)
