The Bunker is an exciting new café opening at Garon Park Golf Complex, one of Southend's leading sports and leisure destinations. Located alongside our newly refurbished driving range, The Bunker has been designed as a welcoming, modern space where golfers, families, cyclists, walkers and the local community can enjoy great coffee, freshly prepared food and exceptional service.
Garon Park Golf Complex is owned by the Norman Garon Trust, a local charity dedicated to improving lives through sport, wellbeing and community initiatives. Every visit to The Bunker helps support the charitable work of the Trust across Southend.
We're looking for enthusiastic and friendly Café Assistants to join our opening team and help create a fantastic customer experience from day one.
The Role
As a Café Assistant, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day running of The Bunker. From serving great coffee and preparing fresh food to greeting customers with a smile, you'll help create an atmosphere that keeps people coming back.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new venue and help shape the experience our customers receive from the very beginning.
We have a number of part-time positions available with flexible hours, including weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver warm, friendly and professional customer service.
- Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, including barista-style coffee (training provided if required).
- Prepare and serve light meals, snacks and cakes to a consistently high standard.
- Operate the till and process customer payments accurately.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and food hygiene throughout the café.
- Ensure food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety procedures.
- Help keep shelves, displays and service areas fully stocked and organised.
- Work closely with colleagues to provide an efficient and enjoyable customer experience.
- Support the wider operation during busy periods and special events.
About You
We're looking for people with a positive attitude and a genuine passion for customer service. Whether you've worked in hospitality before or are looking for your first role, we'd love to hear from you if you're reliable, enthusiastic and enjoy working with people.
Essential Skills & Qualities
- Friendly, approachable and confident dealing with customers.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Flexible to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and evenings.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a café, coffee shop, restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Experience preparing food or making coffees.
- Barista experience (although full training can be provided).
- Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
