Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive, highly organised, and adaptable General Practice Assistant (GPA) to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. This hybrid role combines clinic-based clinical support with essential community outreach. You will work directly alongside our General Practitioners to support patients both in the surgery and via independent home visits, improving overall practice efficiency.
Key Responsibilities; Domiciliary & Driving Duties
- Home Visits: Travel independently between the surgery and local patient homes using your own car to conduct routine clinical checks.
Clinical Support
- Basic Observations: Take blood pressure readings, check pulses, record oxygen levels, and measure height/weight in both the clinic and patient homes.
- Diagnostic Tests: Perform phlebotomy (blood tests) and routine ECGs following full training.
- Urinalysis: Conduct and accurately record basic urine dipstick tests.
- GP Assistance: Chaperone patients during examinations and prepare/restock clinical rooms and home visit kits.
System & Admin Support
- Data Input: Enter vitals, test results, and community visit notes accurately into patient records.
- Patient Liaison: Act as a helpful link between patients, GPs, and local care teams.

Essential Requirements
- Driving Status: Full UK driving licence and access to your own reliable car (essential for home visits).
- System Knowledge: Strong proficiency navigating SystmOne clinical software.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written English with a warm, professional manner.
Desirable Criteria
- Prior Experience: Background as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA), Care Assistant, or primary care administrator.
- Qualifications: Completed or working towards the National GPA Framework certificate.
