Cyber Security Consultant
Role Overview
Our retail client is seeking a knowledgeable and consultative Cyber Security Consultant for a 2 month contract assignment to support and enhance our client's security capabilities. This role requires a security professional who can provide practical security guidance, and help embed security best practices across the organisation.
The successful candidate will be approachable, collaborative, and capable of translating complex security concepts into clear business-focused recommendations. They will play a key role in improving the organisation's security posture through proactive engagement, secure-by-design principles, and effective incident response support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert cyber security consultancy across business and technology initiatives.
- Promote and embed Secure by Design principles throughout the project and development lifecycle.
- Assess existing security capabilities and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with technical and business stakeholders to deliver pragmatic, risk-based security advice.
- Support security governance, risk assessments, and security architecture reviews.
- Participate in and support cyber security incident response activities, including investigation, containment, recovery, and lessons learned.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of security policies, standards, and operational processes.
- Stay informed of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience working as a Cyber Security Consultant or in a similar security advisory role.
- Strong understanding of cyber security principles, frameworks, and best practices.
- Experience applying Secure by Design methodologies within technology projects.
- Proven experience supporting and participating in cyber security incident response.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a consultative and collaborative approach.
- Ability to balance business objectives with security requirements and provide practical, risk-based recommendations.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working within the retail sector.
- Familiarity with retail technology environments, including customer-facing systems, e-commerce platforms, and point-of-sale (POS) solutions.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, GIAC, or equivalent.

Pay: £500.00-£520.00 per day
