Semi-Skilled Engineer / Mechanic – Night Shift
Location: Musselburgh
Basic Pay: £15.00
Overtime: Paid after 46.25 hours per week
Overtime Rate: £17.00
Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00pm – 6:00am
About the Role
We are currently looking for a Semi-Skilled Engineer / Mechanic to join our team in Musselburgh, working on a night shift basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, repairs, and fault finding on machinery and equipment, helping to ensure the site operates safely and efficiently throughout the night.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with previous mechanical experience who is comfortable working independently and dealing with maintenance issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs as required.
- Respond to breakdowns and minimise machinery downtime.
- Inspect machinery and identify potential maintenance issues.
- Carry out mechanical repairs, adjustments, and replacements.
- Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained to a safe and operational standard.
- Complete maintenance checks and relevant documentation.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Work independently during the night shift while supporting the wider maintenance operation.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous mechanical maintenance experience is essential.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, waste, recycling, or similar industrial environment.
- Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with machinery and workshop tools.
- Able to work independently and manage maintenance issues during night shifts.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
- Reliable, practical, and hands-on approach to work.
Desirable
- Experience maintaining heavy industrial machinery.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Electrical/mechanical maintenance knowledge.
- Relevant engineering or mechanical qualification.
