HGV Mechanic / VMU Technician - Dartford - Full UK driving licence is required for this role.
Salary: £33,000 – £37,000 per annum, the working hours are Monday to Friday (10.30am – 7.00pm).

The role of HGV Mechanic / VMU Technician - The purpose of this role is to work within the on-site Vehicle Maintenance Unit doing first fixing to our Truck and Trailer Fleet. We are looking for a HGV / VMU Operative who can work as part of a fast paced and good-humoured team yet be able to work on your own initiative where required.
The job requires flexibility and the entire team must adhere to on-site H&S Compliance with regards to housekeeping controls.

What you will be doing:
- Proficient in fault finding on Trailers & first Fixing on Trucks (Curtain repairs, Lights/Lenses, Mirror and step replacements etc).
- Proficient and competent on PMI’s on trailers.
- Deal with live issues when drivers present for immediate fix where appropriate.
- Be equally responsible for all Health and Safety aspects within the VMU and surrounding areas.
- Adhere to and promote the Company’s policies on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Data Protection Legislation to deliver House Keeping standards to ensure the whole working area is safe and clear of obstructions that can cause injury or harm.
- Comple Weekly/Monthly checks to VMU as required, and completion of necessary paperwork to provide due diligence and audit trials.
- Perform daily PMI’s on rolling stock & ensure low level issues are dealt with to reduce impact on the fleet.
- Be conversant in use of hand tools and power tools.
- Advise VMU Team Leader on stock requirements in a timely manner.
- Undertake any other duties as requested by their line team leader & Manager, commensurate with the role.
- You will be expected to show flexibility in working arrangements, including working hours, to ensure that Europa delivers the required level of service.
Our Ideal Person:
- Full UK driving licence is required for this position.
- Experienced & proficient in first fix on trucks and trailers.
- Must be experienced & proficient in PMI’s on truck & trailers.
- Knowledge of requirements for Trailer Preventative Maintenance Inspections.
- Understand Trailer & truck legal compliance regulations.
- Great communication skills both written and verbal.
- Level of success in issue resolution.
- Use of internal systems in the correct & compliant manner.
- Able to communicate both verbal and written in accordance with systems in place.
- High level of on-time fix completion.
