We have a busy level three neonatal unit with close links with the other UCLH specialist hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Our maternity unit cares for approximately 6,000 births per year and we have a co-located midwifery led birth centre delivering 1000 births per year. We look after a diverse population of which we offer an individualized service, and we are committed to the promotion of normality and the forefront of innovation. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Band 6 Tongue Tie Specialist to join our Infant Feeding Team on a permanent basis. The successful post holder will work within the maternity service providing specialist assessment, management and support for babies with suspected tongue tie and associated feeding difficulties.
The Maternity Care Unit consists of 40 beds and works in close partnership with the Transitional Care Unit situated on the ward. UCLH is UNICEF Baby Friendly accredited and is committed to delivering high standards of infant feeding support and family-centred care.
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking comprehensive tongue tie assessments, supporting infant feeding, performing tongue tie division procedures within agreed competencies and guidelines, and providing ongoing care and advice to families. They will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to promote safe practice and positive feeding outcomes for mothers and babies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and clinical skills, be able to work effectively both independently and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, and be motivated to support service development and quality improvement within infant feeding services. Previous experience and training in infant feeding support and tongue tie management is essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner wishing to further develop specialist skills within postnatal and infant feeding care in a busy tertiary maternity setting.
