Job Summary
The In-House Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing company-owned vehicles, equipment, and machinery to ensure they operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high safety standards. The role will be split between on-site and mobile.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on company vehicles, equipment, and machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
- Repair and replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other mechanical parts.
- Conduct routine inspections and safety checks.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and repair documentation.
- Order and manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.
- Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Collaborate with operations staff to schedule maintenance and minimise equipment downtime.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred. NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance is preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanic, maintenance technician, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic systems.
- Experience using diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
- Welding and fabrication experience is an asset.

- Monday–Friday (with occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call work as required)
