We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our team within a reputable care home in Paignton specialising in Dementia care. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care, support and assistance to residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and wellbeing. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with supervisory experience and strong leadership skills to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults. The role involves working closely with the care team to implement personalised care plans, promote independence, and foster a warm, respectful environment for all residents. Minimum of Level 2 health and social care will be required for the role along with a level 3 health and social care qualification or willingness to complete this.
The role will include medication administration, updating and reviewing care plans, daily audits, liaising with health care professionals and directing and leading a team of care assistants.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised care in accordance with individual care plans, ensuring residents' needs are met with dignity and respect
- Supervise and support junior staff members, fostering a positive team environment and promoting best practices in elderly care
- Assist residents with daily activities such as mobility, personal hygiene, medication management, and emotional support.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, including updates to care plans and recording any changes in residents’ conditions
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care delivery
- Organise and participate in activities that promote social engagement and mental stimulation among residents
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents by adhering to health and safety protocols and reporting any concerns promptly
- Oversee shift handovers to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Previous experience working within a care home environment specialising in senior care is essential
- Supervising or leadership experience within a healthcare setting is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with residents, families, and colleagues
- Knowledge of care plans, safeguarding procedures, and relevant health & safety regulations
- Proficiency in IT systems used for documentation and communication within healthcare settings
- A caring attitude with patience, empathy, and professionalism at all times
